We all want to select the perfect gifts, but that can be tricky when shopping for someone with Migraine. Some gifts could actually be Migraine triggers. Here are some helpful dos and don'ts to give you some ideas for Migraine friendly gifts.
DO: Think About Ice to Soothe Migraine Pain

Some old favorites are now new favorites! The old fashioned ice bag fits that category. They come in a range of sizes so they don't have to be bulky or heavy. Great for travel when we can access ice, but not a freezer! If you don't find them locally, check Amazon.com.
DO: Consider Teas That Can Soothe Migraine

Thanks to online shopping, we have more access to really great teas. Not only are teas tasty and soothing, some can help us relax and even relieve some symptoms. Camomile is a very relaxing tea. Ginger and peppermint teas are helpful for nausea. Black teas can help because the caffeine can help with Migraine and help our medications work more quickly. Not finding them easily? Check Amazon or Adagio.com.
DO: Consider Reading Options for Migraine Patients Who Love to Read

Many of us love to read, but it can be difficult during a Migraine attack because of the Migraine attack's impact on our vision, light sensitivity, and other issues. eReaders may be the solution of giving the joy of reading back to someone with Migraine. Choose carefully though. Some do better than others. Amazon's Paperwhite is a solid selection. The matte screen doesn't glare, and the font size is easily adjustable.
DO: Give of Yourself to Someone with Migraine

One of the most precious gifts you can give to someone with Migraine is yourself, your time. You could run errands, babysit, help with the house or laundry, cook a great meal. You could also simply take some extra time to sit and visit. Migraine can be very isolating. Your time can go a long way toward easing those feelings of loneliness and isolation. DO: Think About Bath Pillows for Migraine Comfort

Sometimes, a hot, steamy bath is just the thing to help us relax while we wait for our Migraine medications to work. The warmth can help with symptoms such as neck pain. Steam and heat can also help if nasal congestion is one of our symptoms. A nice bath pillow can truly add to the cofmort of a luxurious bath during a Migraine attack.
DO: Consider a Bed Buddy As a Migraine Buddy

Pop a Bed Buddy in the microwave for two minutes, and it becomes a magnificent Migraine Buddy. Put it under the covers at the food of the bed for cold feet, or around the neck to relive neck pain. It can also be stored in the freezer to use cold. If you can't find it in a store, check at CVS.com.
DO: Consider Donations to Causes Your Migraine Friend Supports

Medical expenses or being unable to work can mean that people with Migraine aren't able to make the charitable donations they'd like to make. Making donations in their name is important and very touching. Charitable donations are also a good solution when you have absolutely no idea what to buy for someone. Whether they would like to donate to Migraine research, save animals, or have another favorite cause. this is a great gift!
DON'T: Fall Back on Smelly Things that Can Trigger Migraine

Perfume, scented candles, potpourri, scented soaps, and other fragranced items are often fall-back options. When buying for someone with Migraine, either proceed carefully or stay away from these items. Many of them are extremely strong potential Migraine trigger. Unless you know the person you're shopping for has a favorite that they can use, these can be problematic.
DON'T: Go Too Bright for People with Migraine

Thinking about a soft, cuddly scarf or blanket for someone with Migraine? Take a clue from what they already have and use to choose appropriate colors and patterns. Overly complex or bright patterns and busy stripes can be a Migraine trigger.
DON'T: Choose Food Gifts That Can Trigger Migraine Attacks

If you're not certain if your gift recipient has any Migraine food triggers, gifts of food aren't the best ideas. Some commonly gifted foods including chocolates cheeses, sausages, and coffees are possible food triggers. Observing the person's preferences and favorites can help if you want to select this type of gift.
DON'T: Go Straight for Traditional Flowers for Someone with Migraine

Want to go with flowers for someone with Migraine? Great. Just don't go straight to the more traditional choices such as roses and others with a strong fragrance. Check with your florist about flowers that don't have a scent. Tulips are one fabulous choice.
